Morganite

Morganite is a rare pale pink stone that is in the beryl family.  Also in this family are emeralds and aquamarines.  Named for the financier J.P. Morgan, the material was first discovered in Madagascar in 1910, but now it is found in several places around the world.  This gem comes in at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, so it's suitable for daily wear, just treat it with care to protect against scratches.
