Collection: Tanzanites

Tanzanite is a beautiful blue/purple dichroic gem discovered in Merelani, Tanzania in 1967.  The most desirable gems are a medium to deep blue with purple flashes.  Almost all the gems are a brownish color when mined and need to be heat treated to bring out the desirable color. 

Tanzanite is a softer gem (Mohs hardness of 6 - 6.5) so should be worn with care, especially in a ring.  Cole cuts and polishes most of his Tanzanites and can remove stones from the settings and repolish them if they become scratched or worn looking.
